Hi all
POST EDITED_
I have had a puncture and have seen that as well as the puncture, the inner edge of nearside rear tyre has lost approx 4 or 5mm of tread in the space of less than 200 miles, whilst the rest of the tyre has 3 to 5mm at least all over. I have decided to have the new tyres fitted along with full geometry setup to find out what has happened

Tyre looks very worn, even ignoring the canvas. The insurance does not cover that so I think you will be looking at paying though ...

The wear pattern on that tyre looks quite normal for the amount of negative camber these cars run, and I can't see a tyre insurance company paying out anything for that sort of wear.

I've had 4mm on the outside edge tread channel and 1mm on the inside edge.

How did you check the tyres two days ago? Did you take the wheel off the car, or did you simply run a finger over the outside-most tread and assume the rest of the tyre was the same depth.

If that was not that worn 48 hours previously then someone has been doing burnouts without you knowing, as there's no way you'd loose a couple of mm of tread in 100 metres, even with a flat tyre.

I think you're simply putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 6, by trying to associate this terrible wear with things you're now remembering from yesterday.

iwatchlive, I think the answer is that nothing could cause that kind of wear in a few hundred miles.

When you checked them it's likely that you didn't register the inner edges - have done it myself, the tyres are so wide and hidded deep in the arches. When I changed the tyres on my SLK I would have said they definitely looked OK a week previously, yet when the wheels came off they were well worn, down to the indicators.

Having looked at the state of the tyre I have to ask how regularly do you check your Zed? This wear hasn't occurred over a couple of days but over a period of time.

The only other thing I can think of is you drove with the tyres already flat or with very little air in without realising, and this is what happened, but not sure about that?

What does the other side look like?
