Help - Alternator Voltage Regulator Number

Hi all. Hopefully someone will have the knowledge to confirm my statement. My alternator started playing up this week when I received the car back. Turned out after opening up the Alternator voltage regulator, that one of the wires within the regulator had detached. This seems to be the cause of the problem, not completing the circuit.

I have been searching the web for a new AVR and I found one. Only issue is that I cant seem to buy one with the exact same part number within the UK so it is a 2 week wait until it arrives!

As a temporary fix, looking at the connectors and component setup, I know that the VW golf, lupo etc have the exact same setup....and you guessed it...part numbers are ever so slightly different. (I did look for a bmw 325, 525, X3 & z4 locally which contain the same numbered AVR. however there was none kicking about). So I managed to grab one off of the Lupo. Part numbers is as follows:

Z4 - BR14-00
F 00M 145 280
Lupo - BR14-M0
F 00M 145 225

I've been told that this should work but I would just like further confirmation by anyone electrically minded.

Thanks for your help!!

Ok, after a lot of faffing about today, I gave this a go. The terminals are both very very similar but the plastic guides needs to be filed down to fit. once done, this works!! The only slight difference between them is that it is maxed at 70A whereas the bmw z4 can go up to 120A. This is not an issue however. The regulators are exactly the same. Checked voltage across terminals on battery and readings are as you would expect. 14.7V with car running and 12.4-6ish with car off. This is a temporary fix which does work. However I will be replacing the component part like for like once it arrives from Latvia...
