Hi and thanks.
With any new 'specialist' car, there's always a learning curve for new and prospective owners, but for 'regulars' and experienced owners all the questions have been asked and answered many, many times! And forum search tools don't always through up all the info you'd like..
Here's a few questions...
I need a much quieter car than the Elise. What are the noise levels like? Is the coupe quieter? The wind noise levels in the Elise are I suspect the issue. I now wear earplugs driving it.
The Elise doesn't really heat up in the winter unless the hard top is on. How's the Z4 Roadster for this?
Setting aside the horrific servicing costs on the M, mechanically does the 3.0 or the M 3.2 suffer from more risk for major (ie big engine/vanos/gearbox or diff) problems that I'd need to worry about long term?
Will I get a much better MPG on a 3.0 against an M or is there not a huge amount in it.. Assuming generally careful driving, no town stuff just 50/50 A roads and motorway.
Budget wise.. I'll have about £15K. Which would get a Z4M R.. But I'd probably prefer a coupe and they seem more expensive than the roadsters so I'd struggle there for an M but could I expect easily get hold of a 3.0 Coupe.
The Elise has been a genuinely brilliant car.. the nicest thing I've ever driven (although not the quickest car in the world) and probably the cheapest car I've ever run overall.. But I have a weakness for BMWs. I used to run have a very nice E30 M3. If I bought that back now I'd have to pay about double what I sold it for ten years ago.. and I sold it for a fair bit at the time, through Munich Legends if anybody knows that independant.
Thanks for any replies!
