After 7 months of research/viewings into convertibles for the missus as a second car, and quickly realising it was my duty to steer her away from a MK1 TT, she is now the owner of a very pretty 2.5 E85. It's an auto, but she wanted an auto - and got to say I can see the appeal!

Conducted much research here in advance, so thanks for all the knowledge. Will be checking the drainage channels and usual jobs - but it's a wonderfully clean car for the money. Low miles, FSH, lots of owners though, but never failed an MOT and only three advisories in all of them. Bought with a new set of Eagle F1s already on it, so hope the good signs equate to trouble-free motoring (as it was bought on my recommendation without her seeing it...so no pressure :? )

I also might be posting this so I can get a post-count up so I can approach machine monkey by PM to see if he'll be interested in making one of his cup holders - she's really missing having one!

Anyhow, gratuitous forecourt picture.

Heh. I noticed the presence of an intellectually-superior brother when researching. Hello!

She actually I insisted I drove it today on a trip out to Fewston Reservoir and then onto Skipton.

"But it's your new car, dear. You should enjoy the first opportunity to get the roof down and enjoy it"

"I know, but I'd like..."

<Clunk>

"Let's go!" :driving:

Welcome to the forum Bear.

Bonus points for a photo in your 1st post, especially of a lovely Maldives Blue Z4!

You can join the Exclusive Club Maldives using the link here:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32071

Then you'll have 3 posts, so will be able to send PMs.

Hi and welcome to the forum
Congratulations on the new purchase and the photo, she looks a really clean example and a beautiful colour

Welcome to the forum. Lovely clean Z4 your wife has. Because to nick the keys when you can. :driving:

Oh and as for the other fine 🐻. Better to be smart by name or smart by nature? :

What a welcoming bunch you are; not one mention of "should have bought the 3.0l" or chastising for an auto!

Thanks very much anyhow, honestly ; looking forward to making some positive contributions to the forum - and hopefully no "Help! <this> has died - how to I fix it?!" :)

After a few drives though, I totally get the love/following for the car - the drive is lovely, but so is the comfort - it soaks up bumps and puts a grin on your face without losing your licence...although if you leave your foot down for a few seconds longer it's a distinct possibility!

Now, how much time is gentlemanly to wait before I approach the cup-holder-maker I so need to appease?

That should be long enough :)

Oh I wouldn't put yourself down Rob.
Takes a fair bit of brains to keep gravel on your drive at that angle :poke: :D

It was a phase i was going through John, they were good fun though. Increased the top speed by over 30mph on the fortwo and the roadster used to wind itself off the end of the speedo :P

My wife is on the insurance as a named driver and has been for the previous two Z4s but won’t drive them - she’s quite happy with the 300+ Bhp of her 335 but just hates ( she says) the 35is - Puzzles me!

It's been a great few weeks in the car, she loves it and so do I. On a tangent, I've just decided to hand back my company car and whilst my sensible head is telling me to buy a s/h 5 series touring, I'm wondering if I can live with a Z4 as a daily!*

*probably not :)

Why not? As long as you’re not planning on towing a caravan you should be fine
