Hi guys (and gals) I've just become the proud (and impressed) owner of an 09 3.0 Si Sport Coupe, and I absolutely love it. Amazing straight six engine and very trick auto gearbox (believe me, better than a straight manual). Of course I'm still exploring the Z4 envelope, but so far the banshee wail at high revs using Tiptronic sends shivers down my spine, something my previous beloved TT 225 quattro failed to achieve. I'm looking forward to a long and exciting relationship with the Z4 and pleased to be able to benefit from the experiences of other forum members, pleased to meet you, cybernetically.

Hi DELBOY. I was a bit sceptical going from a manual gearbox on my old Z4 to an auto on my new one - I thought it would make it less of a 'driving' experience - but I love it now. The flappy paddles mean you can change gear when you want but it's so good you barely need to. Mostly I've used the 'manual' option for engine braking as riding the brake seems a bit lazy. It's definitely the best of both worlds and I'm a convert.
 
Glad you agree Morganswift, the auto box is a real eye opener for me, and great fun . . . .thanks for your comment . . .

Oh, and thanks again for the warm welcome, the forum has already proved invaluable in helping me with a minor wheel corrosion issue, now sorted!
