Picking up a 2003 3.0 tomorrow. Never owned one before.

The transmission was just rebuilt and the top hydraulics have been replaced also.

Quite excited about picking it up. Sold one of my motorcycles to get it.

Will be looking for some answers soon enough.

Any suggestions on things to look for when I close the deal?

Hi and welcome.

I'm sure that you will have a great time owning the Zed and you're certainly in the right place for any Zed-related questions and for opportunities to spend lots of cash on "improvements".

Don't forget that early pics are an absolute requirement and those of us in Europe won't believe any excuses that they take a long time to travel the Atlantic! :D

Enjoy :driving:

If you have a chance take some one with you who owns a Z4 to give it the once over before you part with your money.
Try and get a decent warranty in the deal.

It's a high performance sports car so I'd be checking that tyres and brakes are in good condition and have life left or factor that into the deal.

The new roof hydraulics is a big plus but try it a couple of times to make certain all is as expected.

Ask if it's had a recent 4 wheel alignment (cost about £100 sterling) and will give you some idea of whether the owner is an enthusiast.

Check for damage on the front lower section (often damaged on kerbs)

The rest is as for any other car - will the wheels need a refurb? Condition of body work, driver's seat wear (leather often gets worn as the driver gets in and out)

As the service intervals are long it's important it has a good service record

Hope all goes well

Thanks paulgs1000

Rims do need to be refurb'd, I will be doing that myself this weekend.

I want new tires, still some miles on the existing ones but I have my eye on a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
I want to put 225 on the front and 245 on the back. Rim size (17x8) can handle.

4 wheel alignment, if he has not done it, I will, thanks

Rear brake pads changed recently and he has a set for the front. I will install those when I refurb the rims.

Front valance has been well peppered and will need paint. Car has several scratches that I will resolve as I go forward.

The top went up and down fine.

Only a few more hours to go til I pick her up, very cool.
