First encounter with the kangaroo today and bloody annoying it was too,the car was bouncing and lurching around I swear I heard a pedestrian say "wheres his L plates" - new shades ordered!!

I'm undecided about removing the CDV on mine, it seems to make less difference on the ///M apparently.

I must try an M to see if I can master driving without kangaroo

I find even on the 3.0 if youre not careful you get a skip on 1st to 2nd shifts

CDV going shortly....

I've had mine done, it improves things but the problem still exists

I find it worse in 1-2 shifts whilst driving in a 'spirited' manner, or if you give it some vent in 1st then pull slowly into 2nd. Mine is only 3.0 though

I guess I must have learned how handle this setup ......

Are you glad you removed it though, or would you not have bothered?

I agree the stock setup is just find and I have never experienced kangarooing with any of the Zed that I have had... :driving:

Z4 hasn't the slickest gearchange I've experienced in a sportscar but I've not had any issues changing gear.

I've never had a problem either although as others have said its not the smoothest gearbox. The heavier, shorter ZHP knob does make a difference though - makes changes seem more direct and positive if you know what I mean.

On balance I'm glad I did it, but don't expect miracles. I think the problem is the car doesn't like town driving full stop. Maybe that's why Beedub doesn't notice the problem, not sure he pootles to Sainsbury's in his :)

I still get the odd Kangaroo thing, especially on roundabouts when trying to modulate the throttle. It's only a first and second gear issue for me though.

It is much harder to drive smoothly than my old 3.0 Z4R was - I don't recall any issues with the gear change on that car at all. The common criticisms of the M's, of poor damping and notchy gear change, are I think things that most of us can identify with but for me it doesn't come close to spoiling the enjoyment I get from the car. 18 months in I still absolutely adore the thing!!

It's the take up of the clutch initially on contact, then the slowing of full contact caused by CDV that makes it diffucult not to have a hiccup whilst briskly accelarating have changing 1st to 2nd gear :x

All other gears are fine. I expect will be worse on an ///M

I've had no problem with kangarooing on my stock M coupe. In fact, I'm impressed by how much better this setup is than my 02 M3. :driving:

I don't have a problem if I go either 'full-bore' or 'driving Miss Daisy'.

It's only when I'm indecisive that it hits me - which is almost never now

the problem seems to manifest itself more often when pulling away at lights and mini roundabouts where you pull away in 1st then have to clutch it again to wait and pull away for a 2nd time in a queue type of situation, for pulling off in clear traffic no problems at all,its just low speed town type driving.(which I hate anyway)

Had this in the early days, but not so much recently. Has reminded me to remove the CDV though, if only for the psychological improvement.

You get used to it. I had mine stock for several months before i removed the CDV completely, didn't make much difference but there was a slight improvement.

mmm-five is correct, it's usually only when you're indecisive that it happens, they don't like fast inputs like a small city car that you can suddenly jump off the line to fill a gap in traffic. Mine is a daily driver for more than 2 years now and i almost never experience it any more but i definitely had to adapt to the M's way of city driving.
