Hello all,

Recently purchased a Z4 3.0Si Sport Roadster in Montego blue.

Has a good spec including manual box (essential for me), xenons, heated seats, Pro Nav and the DSP HiFi system. Nice to have the wind deflector and folding mirrors too.

It's a fun car, only had it a couple of days. The seller mentioned one of the previous owners did the foam removal on the sound generator which would make sense as it's rather loud! On cursory testing, didn't feel the Sport button made a huge amount of difference to the driving experience. Is it supposed to alter the steering feel or just sharpen the throttle response?

Been a BMW fanboi for years, previously owing an E30 325i Cabrio, an E34, various E36s (325 and 328). Currently also have an E91 330i Touring (wife's car).

Looking forward to joining the community and contributing. :)

Methinks you like Blue, don’t blame you, the car’s look great and welcome to the forum and Z4 ownership. Lot’s of info on here. Enjoy

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps.

As mentioned, my main experience has been of E30 and E36s so all these new fangled E91s and E85s are a novelty to me!

BMW fun and practically a almost perfect two car garage. Welcome aboard.

Thanks. Also got the old VW Polo for a tip/crap job car. 1.0 litre, 50bhp, it's a performance car.

Every home need a tipper. Ours is. Mazda2 at present. Racing car though, a whole 101 bhp in a shoe. :D

So we meet again!

Anyway, welcome to the forum - gotta love a Montego Blue 3.0Si! Plus you have the rear parking sensors, cruise control and MFSW which were all options too.

And a 330i to go with it - just the job. Sadly I don't have a performance Polo, but I'm sure my niece would lend me her 65bhp one if I asked nicely!

Having the foam(s) out of the sound generator will make it a bit louder, but even as standard they sound much better than a 330i - I suppose they were aimed at different buyers.

The Sport button is supposed to sharpen throttle response and steering I believe, but I couldn't detect any difference either!

Perfect weather to enjoy it too. :driving:

Hello Mr Tidy, fancy seeing you here. :P

Yes, it's a well spec'd example. All rain today so not much opportunity for any topless action.

Need to get used to the sitting position, long bonnet and sitting so far to the back of the car feels quite unusual. Also got to keep an eye on the roof drain plug situation. Read quite a few tutorials about draining it properly as well as the 'quick and dirty' method.

Suppose the next question is if/when to do the waterpump.

Anyone able to recommend any roof motor relocation specialists down south?

Shame about your weather - it's been dry and hot here all day.

As my Z4 A/C isn't fixed yet I used my 330i and stepped back in time with the sunroof open!

I think the low seating position just in front of the rear wheels in the Z4 is what makes it feel a bit special.

Water pumps seem to be a bit random - I read 8 to 10 years when I joined here. Sure enough my 1st Coupe had one die at 9 years and 60K miles.

My E91 325i had one die at 12 years and 135K miles, so I'd guess that might have been it's 2nd one!

You may not have any evidence of yours having had a new one, but I'd be surprised if it was still on the original so you may have years to go. Seeing as you have two cars with an N52 it might be worth buying a pump when you can get one for a good price, just in case - Pierburg made the OEM ones. (They can be cheaper from Germany). I probably need to do that.

As far as roof motor revivers/relocators go the nearest one to you I know of is "bowser134" in Yateley, Hampshire:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=89241&hilit=bowser

Otherwise it's Bristol, Warrington or Durham. :o

Hi and welcome - 3.0 roadster in montego blue (snap  ) and almost a double our other daily is a 520d touring!

Quite a few forum Zeds in East Anglia but more your end than mine I think.

Thanks for the info. Something to consider. I actually checked the drain holes today. Right side was blocked with standing water. After unblocking (with a wire coat hanger), flows perfectly. Left side was actually clear.

Thanks! Yes, a Touring + Roadster = best of both worlds.

Decided on the petrol for our Touring as my wife doesn't do mega miles.

Aircon issue finally sorted on the wife's 330i, picked up from the garage yesterday evening, so here are the 330i and the Z4 pictured together for the first time. :D 20190711_074341m.jpg

Looking good.

Glad you've got the A/C fixed - it's a bit warm to be without it!
