Hello bimmer fans!

Since I bought my first BMW / first convertible / first sports car ever last week (a.k.a. BMW Z4 2.2), I started browsing this forum for information and ideas I need.

What can I tell you.. I love this car and I'll cherish it, mod it, drive it as best I can for a number of years :)

Thank you for setting up this nice community!

John.

It's a dec.2004 model, 2.2 SE, without cruise control (but I've ordered the stick, and hopefully will fit) and without cup holders (I'm still considering if I want them rattling in there). I've got a lot of good information from this forum as I said before. Found the recommended Bristol independent garage (Redish Motorsport) which I intend to use for the revision in 6k miles.

It's only got 18k miles, what can I expect from a car that's been sitting around a lot? The alternator already failed on me (day 2 :-P ) but it was quickly replaced under the dealer warranty so I'm pleased with their reaction. Any ideas, what to check?

Thanks for your replies! I'm considering joining the Sunday event at Goodwood!

Hi and welcome to the best forum on the net!

Is that Cheddar Gorge you have been visiting? I'm getting to know Bristol well - with 2 children at UWE.

Might see you Sunday, although the weather not looking promising for the roof down

yes, first weekend ride was to the gorgeous gorge :) only half an hour away. I suppose I'll get to see it a lot :)

Sunday's looking quite good now! I'll see you there !

Welcome! I've got a go pro film to upload of a run down the gorge. It would make an excellent meet location (out of season)

Yeah, Cheddar Gorge.. beautiful place! I get there quite often, it's the best stretch of road next to home.

So.. 2 weeks since I bought it, and so far, except for that alternator that was quickly replaced under dealer warranty, everything is great!

Had the chance to meet some of you at the Goodwood meet, what a bunch of nice people and great cars! ;)

I didn't wasted any time and started the mods: remote roof module, Parrot bluetooth kit, rubber mats, a rubber boot linen (which is not what I expected..it covers only half of the space), Bosch wipers.

I discovered I have the roof down squeak - tried to fix it (opened the cover once) but sadly it's still there.. I'll try again later.

Still, it's such a pleasure to ride it with the top down, so far I got it down whenever I got the chance!

LOVE IT!! :)
