Hello all!

I've been lurking for a few weeks now on the forum and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed. I've been a member of other BMW/Audi forums in the past but this one seems to not only be truly dedicated for one specific model but also has some extremely knowledgable people on board.

I'm currently in the market for a new private car after deciding to get the Mrs something bigger and myself something smaller. I've owned various Audis/VWs in the past and one BMW and my general view is that whilst BMW has the edge in terms of drive, right now Audi has the edge in terms of quality and build. That said, BMW make some truly gorgeous cars.

I'm getting to the stage now where I've got my choices down to a Z4 Coupe 3.0Si Sport or Audi TT 2.0TFSI. I know it's probably brave to ask for an unbiased opinion of both on a Z4 forum but any advice in decision making would be most welcome.

I'm particularly interested in real world usage, reliability and performance. I know the TT should be more economical - but then the Z4 Coupe would be considerably faster. Anyone who has owned both would be most interesting to chat to.

I look forward to continuing to read the lively debate on the forum and contributing also - and indeed will let you all know if/when I purchase!

Many thanks,

Welcome!

We are the best forum!

As for making a decision, well its down to you! A car is a very personal thing. I concur with the build quality thing, Audi are built like tanks

Just have fun doing a lot of research/test driving!

Keep us posted

Hi i was also having the same problem working out what car to purchase next, a Nissan zx or a Audi TT or a Z4 and after long debate i worked out that because i'm a white English mail that ment the Datsun was out and i don't cut hair so that ruled out the TT so it can only be a z4 for me. :poke:

Hello and Welcome.

I've had an Audi A3 in the past (it wasn't particularly well built and i wasn't impressed with the interior)
I've never owned a BMW before (but hopefully will do so in a couple of weeks.

When I was looking for a new car, I had probably already decided on the BMW Z4 since think it looks beautiful. But did try out porsche boxter and mercedes SLK. I didn't like the interior on either. The SLK drive was very horrible. The interior in the Z4 I would argue is best in class by a long way. Sitting in the TT didn't feel especially special either. (i didn't test drive the TT, although had driven one before).

Hi i am a zed 4 roadster owner and a volunteer at brooklands museum events. seeing a lot of great cars in my hobby, i still consider the zeds in their many spec and colour options are the best. good luck with decision.
