Hello, new member considering a Z4

Hi All,

Quick introduction, i'm currently thinking about a Z4, been looking around this site for about a week now and found a lot of very useful information :D

I currently have a 2004 Civic Type R which i've owned for close to 5 years, it's been great but fancy a change. I've looked at and driven quite a few cars in my quest for a replacement including the following:-

350Z
Golf MkV R32
Gti Edition 30
Audi S3
s2000
The "new" civic type r

They all had their merits and some weaknesses, but last month I had a go in a 3.0si coupe and loved it! Seems to have the combination I want (quick, good hangling, great sound, looks fantastic, well made, and a few more creature comforts).

I was not particuarly impressed with the run flats, but I was expecting this after experience of driving an ex girlfriends mini cooper. I think I would be quick to replace these with some conventional tyres.

I have done a few trackdays in the civic and would potentially do this with the Z4 as well, does anyone here track a 3.0si? I suspect the Z4M might be better for this, but stories of high servicing costs and costs when things go wrong on the M cars is putting me off the M.

Anyway, i'm sure there is a wealth of knowledge here so will be doing a lot of searching rather than asking questions that have probably been asked many times before :)

Go for it - brilliant car.
I went from a 2.5si to a 3.0si and still love it.
Try and get one with as many options as possible as it will aid resale - and of course will be a bit more or rarer to get a hold of in the first place.
As above, check out the for sale section on here - there is a lovley dark green coupe for sale
I obv prefer roadster :poke:

Thanks everyone

I might actually take a look at a roadster, I prefer the look of the coupe but maybe there is something to be said for open air motoring, they also seem to be slightly cheaper which seems odd!

budget wise probably looking at a max of about 17/18k

You can even get a Z4 M Roadster with the budget you have.

hello and welcome

i really like the look of the coupe but bought a roadster, the roadster will give you the best of both worlds, at the touch of a button you can go roofless :D
i wouldnt bother buying a hard top for a roadster either as you lose all the spontaneity of being ableto go roofless at the traffic lights :)
