Hello all,

We have joined the throngs taking advantage of the current e89 offers. We are Americans living in North Wales. Very few e89s here. In winter I see one once a month if that.

Here is what we've ordered:

sDrive 20i M-Sport
A76 Deep Sea Blue
LYSW Black Leather
4BN Ash-grain fine wood

248 Steering Wheel Heating
494 Seat Heating
544 Cruise Control
704 M-Sport suspension

If all goes well, I'll be posting photos in March.

Andrew

Congratulations, interesting choice on the colour combination, not sure if I have seen a DSB with black, so will look forward to seeing the photos. You've kept the standard stereo?

Yes we've kept the standard stereo <sigh> Trying to keep the payments in a comfortable range. We went through options vs. payments and business audio was the one we gave up. If I can find the money, there is still time to change.

I'm still undecided about the sport suspension. I feel the car is on the soft side with the standard suspension. I am concerned the M-Sport will go to far the other way. On an e85 or a MINI I'd stick to the standard suspension, but they are firmer to begin with.

We worked backwards on the colours. We both wanted the Ash wood trim. Starting there, we thought black leather looked best. With that combo, I liked Alpine White, Titanium Silver or DSB. Debbie picked the blue.

If we still lived in Atlanta, we would have picked different colours.

If you like music at all the stereo upgrade is a must, I listened to the sales guy and he said it was fine, I tested the car in January 2010 and didn't manage to get the roof down and tbh honest it sounded okay. It wasn't until I had the roof down on my car that it hit me how bad it was. I love music, be it classical or rock and with the roof down it hopeless, I took it back and complained that it wasn't working properly, they had it for 3 days and said it was fine. I then borrowed some sound measuring equipment from work and spent the weekend recording spl's top up/down etcetera, the head unit produces 4 x 25 watts, giving a maximum spl of 87 db with the current speaker set up, for your information a lorry travelling at 56 mph produces between 85 and 90 db of noise, that means you not going to hear any music when you pass a lorry and trust me you don't. I complained again to BMW, unfortunately there is no retrospective upgrade from BMW for the e89.

If I have the top down and I'm on my own I use in ear phones, it's the only way I can enjoy it

And with the headphones...Steps have never sounded so good? :D

Great choice of car, but I echo what SARS has said, go for the Pro System if you can

Where in the country are you? We have meet in the north and south in March..maybe see you at one of them?

That could be fun. Depends on Debbie's schedule and if we can do it as a day trip.

We live on Anglesey. Postcode LL61.

Sorry, who or what are steps....apart from some sort of exercise class of the 90's :poke:

Hey, we're in N Wales too but the other side I think. Between Wrexham and Mold. your car sounds similar to mine but we had cream leather. Very nice too. Wave if you see us, we travel to betws some weekends for a drive out.

Welcome, I bet the long will feel like its taking forever. Will be worth it though :)

Yes it already does. We've done this before. The hardest, longest wait was redelivery on our X3. Ordered in June. We picked it up in Munich in September and it didn't get home to Alanta until November.
