Hello

I’m Arthur, I joined the forum just over 5 years ago when I first wanted a Z4! Unfortunately other things took priority over buying one but this weekend I finally did it!

I picked up a 2004 3.0 se in Toledo blue with 88k on the clock, FSH and new and relocated roof motor for just over £3000. Fairly good condition for it age with the odd rust spot here and there and some minor badly repaired damage to from and rear bumpers.

I am after some advice on a few issues I was aware of when I bought the car.

1) The steering is wobbly and knocks slightly on bumps. The seller mentioned this and I think he said it was lower arm bushes? Iv been told to go for “Powerflex Bushes”

2) The passenger seat (electric) doesn’t tilt back or forwards, I think it’s a broken cog? easy repair or buy a second hand seat?

3) I haven’t hunted through the forum yet but I’d like to buy replacement front and rear bumpers if I can find some in Toledo blue. I imagine finding either in decent condition will be difficult?

4) Small issue but will annoy me, drivers drink holder is broken, easy to replace? Where’s best to buy?

5) The car only came with 2 keys, one being the little plastic one. Where’s best to get a spare cut?

Looking forward to getting involved with the forum now!

Many Thanks
Arthur

Welcome Arthur to the forum. Cant beat a 3 litre  I have just got my front wishbone powerflex bushes today, so also need to get them fitted although not knocking like yours.
Whereabouts in Wiltshire , as just down the M4 near Newbury

There should be a prize for longest lurker. Welcome finally to Zed driving, tis a wonderful thing. :driving: :)

Hi and welcome Arthur - finally!

It looks like your steering question has been answered, but I can't help with the seat.

Bumper-wise I was just wondering why you want to buy a pair - if they just have minor damage surely it would be cheaper just to get them repaired and painted?

Cup-holders are pretty flimsy, so often break. The last time I read about them driver's side ones were no longer available, so you'll probably need to search the usual web-sites for a breaker. Or contact Liam on this thread to see if he has one:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=112593&start=90

There is a former forum member who in Cheshire who cuts and codes keys, or if you get one cut there is a member in E. Anglia who can code them - but neither is that near to you! I've also read positive things about a firm in East London who cut and code - search "bmkeys".

Welcome to the forum, that is the best colour. Have tried to tighten the bolts that hold the brace bars in the engine bay, the ones that go from the strut tops back to the bulkhead. My car had a knock when I first got it, I gave the above nuts a nip up and no more knocks.
Just don't go mad with the socket though

I’m in Chippenham, not far from you at all.

How much did those set you back If you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks for the advice, I guess I was thinking replacing the bumpers would possibly be easier / cheaper than having them repaired but I am most likely wrong.

Im toying with the idea of having the rust spots repaired over the car so may be worth getting a price to repair the lot.

Thanks for the advice! I may give that a go over the weekend! I was planning on dropping it off to my mechanic just to have him give it the once over.

Great looking Zed Arthur, love the wheels, welcome to the forum, happy Zedding :driving:

I got them for £62 delivered off ebay, which seems the going rate.
Chippenhams a great place. Often visit Castle Coombe to watch others
