Hello all,

I have just found this forum after the purchase of a "new to me" 2009 Z4 E89. I have just driven the first leg home (400+kms) and will make the last 300kms on Friday. I must say, I am already in love with this animal! What a machine.

That said.. I have some questions, that I would love answered....

1) How much should the roof rattle when up?
I noticed today driving with the roof up (bad weather) there is a definite rattle/clunk from behind the passenger (left) side seat, coming from what I think is the roof. Basically going over some bumps will induce the clunk. Anything you can offer would be great.

2) I have seen some replacement screens for Apple Car Play etc - as the Bluetooth is horrible. Any that are better than others?

3) It current has Run Flats (I believe) I have been told to swap to normal - but I don't have a spare - how does that work?

4) I have a strange metal hook behind the drivers seat that nobody seems to know what it's for?? Any ideas?

5) I have some old phone socket in the middle console - what is that?? LOL! It is a waste of space, and would love to replace.

Anyways - Sorry for all the questions - Much reading to do! LOL! But if you can answer any of the above, I would be very grateful!

I have an E85 so can't answer much but re. 3. "Tyres", simply drive to a tyre fitters and get them to replace all 4 runflats to normal tyres!

Is it a coat hook?

On the non spare, you carry a can of expanding gunk and a tyre inflater which means you can get to a garage to replace the tyres. Thats what my Z4M came with from the factory because there isn't room.

I carry the rubber plugs aka retails ..also rubber solution to inser into the tyre aka gunk…I carry a 18” space saver ..it fits even roof down

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have an M like tomscott except mine is a Coupe but I've got a full-size front wheel and tyre, BMW jack, breaker bar and torque wrench in my boot - just not much boot space!

But it's a price I'll pay to avoid a a flat tyre or worse when I'm hundreds of miles from home.

Membership of a recovery service can be a useful back-up.

So... Here is the strange hook!!

ALSO - There appears to be a camera (i think) behind my rear view mirror which I thought may have been for adaptive cruise control, but I tried that and it did not appear to work.

Any ideas? The manual is not that helpful!

There wasn't one on mine either but had the clips, so got a second-hand one from eBay for about 20 quid. Helps keep things in check rather than full on storage for me anyway

You are all missing the point of the net behind the seats. Obvious once you know of course................... it restrains your mini dachshunds.

So I did a VIN lookup and have this....

Geschwindigkeitsregel. Mit Bremsf.

Whatever that is? Adaptive Cruise maybe??
