Hello from the Netherlands

I’ve been quietly reading along for a while, but I figured it was time to introduce myself. My name is Mike, based in the south-region of the Netherlands (Limburg), and since January 2026 I’ve owned a 2003 BMW Z4 (E85) with the 3.0 engine and a manual gearbox.

I’ve already carried out a number of OEM+ upgrades on the Z4, including a fixed wind deflector, an upgraded head unit with BluMusic, US-spec rear lights, and the cruise control retrofit. I also had the wheels refurbished; they are the original BMW Style 108 alloys. A suspension drop with an ST coilover kit will also be carried out within the next few weeks.

My next project is already planned: installing white indicators in my headlights. I’ve bought two sets. I might need some tips for cutting open the headlights, as I noticed many of the photos on this forum—where useful tips were shared—are no longer available.

Hello Mike, welcome to the forum from another Mike, very nice looking Z4, in a very nice colour. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum Mike.

There are a few other members in the Netherlands.

Thanks everyone.

@Mr Tidy , I see you’re running H&R coilovers, do you have any pictures of them mounted on your car? I got an email yesterday saying the ST Suspension kit is difficult to deliver at the moment, so I’m looking for an alternative.

My car has Bilstein B12 fitted front and rear I believe - they were installed before I bought the car, but that could be another option to consider?

Sorry I missed your request.

Here's a photo with them at their highest ride height which is still quite low. Because there is no adjustment for compression or rebound I find the ride is firmer than I'd like on UK potholed roads, but mine is an M so they may be better on a non-M?
