Hi all.
I've been following this forum for sometime as a guest so thought it high time to take the plunge!!
I've been a Z4 owner for a number of months now and I love it. It's a 2006 2.5 Si roadster in sterling grey and I've just reached 60k miles, relatively low for the year.
Performance wise it's brilliant...I love the engine note of the straight six and just love driving it. Overall it's in great condition, but do have a few issues to sort.
The wheels need a refurb, they look fine from a distance but there is "bubbling" in parts of the rims and it looks like the previous owner has attempted to cover up...badly may I say.
The hood is grey, and although I have previously cleaned it using the Autoglym hood cleaner kit, it did improve the look but over the winter the green tint has become more apparent with tree sap etc so it needs doing again. But in all honesty I'm not convinced I can completely eradicate the green tint I've mentioned. To me the hood just looks like a black one that's badly faded. I would actually prefer a black hood and would consider dying it as I think it would improve the overall appearance of the car. I've seen a few you tube videos on colouring hoods, has anyone done this and/or can recommend the best product to produce a satisfactory result?
The other main issue I have is condensation in the offside front headlight. It's pretty bad, but I don't want to go to the expense of replacing unless I have to. Again I've seen you tube videos using hair dryers to dry out, but they seem to take an age. Any suggestions?
I did have an issue with the engine temp soon after I purchased the car and assumed it was a problem with the radiator, as I had to top it up on a number of occasions. It got to the point where I took it to a garage to investigate and it turned out to be a leaking expansion tank which I have since learned appears to be a common issue, anyway had this replaced and it's been fine since.
I am aware this forum love their pictures, so I will endeavour to get some up as soon as possible. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy this forum and all of its useful and entertaining content.
Cheers everyone.
