Hi

I have been dipping in and out of the forum picking up tips looking for a Z4. I have picked up lots of advice already from the site so thought it was time I joined. I have tried to get a couple of Zs but just missed out for various reasons.

There is one for sale in Nottingham which is a 2.0 2006 facelift model with a good price. However the car has not been MOT'd or taxed for 2 years. Looking at the car sale history on Cargurus it appears to have been on the dealer's forecourt for over 18 months which seems strange. I'm getting a bit put off as there may be a reason it hasn't sold for so long. I just wondered if any of the local members knew anything about the car or the dealer?

Thanks, I probably will do, but my experience is Second hand car dealers and straight talking rarely appear in the same sentence... :)

Unless you have a particular reason to want a 2.0 litre model (like insurance cost) for that sort of money I'd be looking for one with a straight 6 engine, so a 2.2i, 2.5i or 3.0i. Is there nothing you fancy in the classifieds on here?

Thanks, I'm open to anything reasonably priced really, just that one seemed good value for the money. I just wondered why it has been in the dealer so long and off the road for 2 years.

Hi Andy, i would support the idea of looking for a forum car but this will limit you but you may be taking less of a chance i think. I would ask the q of the dealer as said already - defo a negotiation point if it has sat there for that long. Re engine size i would ssy drive as many as you can. I have had my 2.0 e85 for just a few months and after years of mx5 ownership i absolutely love the drive of the Z. 2.0 is enough for me, lovely raspy exhaust note and fast enough. There are cons with all cars and some particular issues with the 2.0 (manifolds etc) that you dont have with the bigger engines - guessing you will have read up on this.
