So after about 2 years of procrastinating I finally purchased a Z4M. I previously had a 986 Boxster S and felt like a change mainly for more tail out fun.. I sold the Porsche when we had our first baby 7 months ago thinking it was a bit of a waste, but I missed going out for a fun drive and got a bit carried away searching the ads..

Anyway here are some pics. Unfortunately the weather is terrible at the moment and so I haven't really pushed it yet, but I'm hoping to book a track day sometime soon to get to grips with it properly..







A few things I've noticed so far that I could do with some advice on:

The oil temp is generally on the low side. I'm used to my cars showing temp bang on the middle of the range once warmed up, but so far it has fluctuated around 1/3 (sustained motorway cruising). Is this normal?

Tyre wear is not even. Front tyres are worn on outer edge and rears are worn on inner side. Is this normal? Tyre pressures were a bit off, but I also wonder if I should get a wheel alignment? Also tyres are a mix of conti sport contacts up front and P zeros at the rear. The rears are near needing replacing. I'm tempted to put on pilot super sports, but would it be better to put on conti's to match the front?

About 90 defy for the oil is normal in mine. Takes abt 15 mins to get there. An alignment will help, you just need to choose your settings. There are a few threads on here relating to that so use the search function. Always best with 4 tyres the same in my view. Nice car, welcome.

Hi Phil welcome to the mad house and thanks for the pics. :thumbsup:

I would stick PSS on it. Not many Conti fans on here. Do get the alignment checked, though. The rear wear you are talking about is common on the ///M. The rear camber should be -1.5 but, people do run -2.5 and more for track work.

Welcome to the forum ,
As mentioned above , not unusual to see scrubbed edges on M tyres so a full alignment will be money well spent
Also a good move onto the MPSS or save yourself a few ££ for a very close 2nd with some Vredestein Vorti's

Do as others said, the full geo
Better handling and tyre wear plus use nitrogen
I'm and always run MSS and such a sweeeet ride

Hunt for best prices I got £580 delivered on my 19s

Ref temp it can take some time if drive carefully until warm
Taken me about 20-25 mins some days
But was cold day and cruising

Thanks for the replies.

I'll try to get the alignment done this week and will look out for some MPSS rears for now I think. Hope the weather improves soon!
 
Welcome, nice car.

Be careful with just putting MPSS on the rear, you'll likely end up with extra understeer.
For alignment, look for somewhere with a hunter system, they should put weights in the car whilst doing it too.

Well it came with an IO Play 2 installed, which seems to work very well as a hands free kit and also blue tooth music streaming from my iphone. So I got a Kenu cradle for my phone..

It also doesn't have sat nav, but I prefer my tomtom with live traffic anyway so i've installed than nicely with wires hidden to the fuse box in the glove compartment. I'll probably remove the air freshener as it does add to the cluttered feel, but I can still smell the previous owner :-x
 
Haha get it cleaned and carpets done
Then spray floor matts with your fav aftershave
Haha that's what I do;)
