Hello all

After a bit of deliberation I finally took the plunge and placed a deposit on a 2003 3.0i SE Roadster from a BMW garage, having arrived at this point via a 330ci Sport Convertible and a Boxster S. I have always loved the shape of the Z4 and I'm really excited about owning one! As soon as I have sorted out delivery (I hope I have done the right thing having thrown caution to the wind and bought it blind) I will post some photos.

The forum is just great and has already provided a wealth of information - even the the salesman commented that I appeared to know more than him - so thank you peoples!

I also hope you'll be able to help me with the question I've posted re whether or not the alloys on it (which are from an E90) are in fact compatible - I'm waiting for BMW's response on this.

Thanks again.

Chimaera

Many thanks for your replies.

Here's the link to the ones I have identified as being on there:

The garage have now said that they aren't in fact genuine BMW wheels but are fine on the car, but given the car has full BMWSH and is approved used and was advertised as having 108's I would really like to have genuine BMW wheels on it - the ball is back in BMW's at the moment - I'll keep you posted. Until this is resolved I can't arrange delivery - the wait is killing me!!!

Any comments or suggestions about the wheels are very welcome!

BMW can't really sell that car with non OEM wheels. At least you spotted this bofore parting with your cash, as you say ball is in their court, worse case walk away.

Personally I would not accept with non OEM wheels.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Well spotted on the wheels - if the adverts says 108s then that's what it should have. My guess is that the 108s were badly corroded and thay have place a 'gash' set on to achieve a sale. There is a pre purchase checklist in my signature which may assist as a final once over before you commit to buy. If the rest of the car is OK then insist on BMW originals or try a silly price reduction (£2000) so you can select the wheels of your choice - it may work but only if you try.

Welcome  as above if it was advertised with 108s it should have them but as said if its a good car try a haggle on price or new wheels.

The wheels on mine were not perfect but the rest of the car was i tried to get them to swap a set from another Z but no joy i had to accept her as was glad i did :D

Many thanks for your replies - the welcome is much appreciated.

I think I finally have things sorted with the dealership, they are going to put on M Sport MF 18's (sorry let me get this right M Star Spoke 193's) which they have assured me are fine, and having looked on this site someone else has on their Zed - link here:

I think they look lovely, although I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder! One thing that isn't so great is that the insurance company from whom I got the best quote, Aviva, treats them as non standard and is hiking the price by £46! Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything but knowing my luck if something happened to the car they would use it as an excuse to wriggle out of paying!

Still, looks like I may now actually get the car a week tomorrow, can't wait!

As ever, any comments or suggestions will be gratefully received. :)

Well GAZA62 wish they were brand new, but sadly not. Although I have said they best be 'perfect'. Oh and the dealerships is paying the £46 insurance increase cost, so good on them! Will let you all know what they are actually like when I get it - roll on next Friday!!!

Look forward to the pics gonna be a long week remember buyng mine Jan 08 like it was yesterday the week seemed to take for ever then the journey by train and tube into London to pick her up was agony but as soon as i drove out of the Stealers into Park Lane gave the gas a nice blip i was grining like a kid well for about 5 seconds cos then i had to deal with getting through the west end on a Saturday in the rain :o buses, coaches and black cabs are terrifying in a new toy.

You are so right about the wait time and definitely about the grin! Have missed having a grin inducing car - had to sell my 330Ci to do up the house. Now having to sell the house (having done it up) thanks to the decision to can the Harrier (OH in forces and now has no job in this area) so back to Married Quarters prior to relocation - again!

So if anyone sees a mad girlie with an inane grin repeatedly, yet carefully (!) careering up and down the A1 in Lincolnshire on Friday it's me - assuming I manage to the prise the keys out of OH's cold dead fingers!
