Hi, I've just joined (UK member) so I thought I'd post a "hello to all" message with some info about my Zed. So here we go, it's a 2004 2.2 E85 on 110K miles, I picked it up cheap to add to my toy collection. I've sorted out the mechanical issues, new break calipers, door mirrors etc. and now started on the normal mods. So far I've got these jobs done:
1. Swapped the Business CD player for a standard 1 DIN unit with the after market fascia.
2. Swapped the long ugly aerial to a stubby.
3. Swapped red rear break light for a clear one.
4. Moved the roof motor to the boot.
5. Replaced the steering column lubrication to fix the "notchy" steering issue.
6. Removed the front number plate holder, still not sure it it looks better but it's done now.
7. Engine Carbon Clean and custom Remap.
I'm monitoring the rear differential and I'll get to that if it starts to knock, so far its OK. Next on the list is new headlights and clear side repeaters but I'm looking into the best place to buy those. After all that I'll have the wheels re-furbished. The M Sport badges on the side of the car....... consider these temporary. When I purchased the car it had broken 2.2 badges, the problem with these is that BMW glue these badges into a recess in the paintwork so a direct replacement isn't easy to install neatly. The M badges will cover up the horrors beneath them until I can have the wings painted to delete the badges completely. Finally, you might notice from the pictures that the number plate has a Z4 in it, I've kept UK legal spacing but even though it's an old car I felt it deserved it
