.......... I finally did it!
In September I joined the Forum and spent some time to become an “instant expert”. The Forum is extremely useful in giving me an insight into the good and bad points of the Z4.
I then decided, as this was to be a “toy”, to keep the expenditure to the bottom end of the price scale. I bought a 2004 registered 3.0i Roadster Auto (built July 2003) with 78,000 miles and an almost complete service history from a dealer on a 7 day sale or return. My garage gave it a good looking over and said it was OK. At nine years old it’s not perfect but will not take a lot to get it the way I want it.

Jobs for the winter:
• Get rid of the Runflats and replace with Vredestein Ultrac Vorti.
• Got a Continental Mobility kit. Don’t know whether to get a spacesaver as well.
• Four wheel align.
• Change the gearbox fluid and filter.
• Retrofit Cruise Control.
• Proof the hood. Raggtop?
• Clean out the hood drains.
• New mats.
• Stubby (done that).
• Polish headlamp covers.
• Maybe fit Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited H7 bulbs?
• Fit USB MP3/Bluetooth phone. I will be trying a GROM-USB2 PLUS with GROM-ACC-BTD on a 14 day trial.
• Refurbish the leather (driver’s side bolster scuffed). I have bought a Gliptone Liquid Leather kit matched to a sample.
• Fit Aero wipers.
• Re-program key operation.
• Hood operation from key (Gap-Tech).
• Work out how to discreetly mount my TomTom GO520 sat nav, incorporating stealth wiring. Any suggestions?
I haven’t had many opportunities to drive it with the hood down but every time I have just had a big smile on my face! All I need now is for Summer 2014 to be as good as 2013 – is that where it’s all going to go wrong?
Regards,
Tony.
