Hello from a new Z4MC owner

...and a stubby, of course!

Looks great, rather like mine used to when last it was clean (sometime in the summer I think) :(

Have you considered aeroskirts? Not that I want you to clone my car at all :poke:

 I don't think I will upgrade the exhaust because of tracks noise restrictions :headbang:... On 3rd april I'll go to Charade and they are very strict about noise because of neighbors complains ...

BMWZ4MC : I didn't know there was aero skirts for the M Coupé (sorry I'm very new in the Z4 community )... That's a good idea :D... But I have others priorities at the moment ;), before making my Z more beautiful, I want to make it more fun for track use. The first important thing for me is to make it braking as long as possible :).

...my new wheels (sorry for the picture quality) :) :

My stepfather tried to fit one on his E36 M3 3.2l which have 4 pots ATE calipers (from a german E32) + M3 E46 discs, and it doesn't fit . I hope they will fit easier with the AP-Racing !

Yesterday morning I also bought 4 used rims from a stock M3 E46 (18"), for track use. I'm thinking about repainting them, white or gold or...? I also already have 3 BBS RK2 18" which can be put only on the rear. Now I need to find drift training days to kill the tyres before putting semi-slicks :D.

Yesterday afternoon I went to the Bresse track (Circuit de Bresse), small track with slow curves and lots of braking.

My brakes have faded out after only 3 laps  ...

I've been also very disappointed by the sport mode. I found the throttle response too nervous, I was always drifting in corners exit because I could not "dose" the throttle with the pedal (of course, DSC was off). So I put it off and it was better.

The stock suspension is very good, but there is some understeer in corners entry (I will put the negative camber to the max) and sometimes the rear seems too stiff (oversteering on braking and on bumpy surface).

At the engine level, I'm very satisfied. My Z accelerates faster than my stepfather M3 which weighs about 1300Kg (2900 lbs) and which is in very good condition. Maybe the final drive ratio helps a lot, anyway it is very appreciable on the track : I can still in 3rd gear in some small curves, doesn't need to downshift in 2nd.

I was very surprised how easy it is to drift :D. Too easy ! I even had the black flag because I was drifting too much   ...

I will post a video in the next days ;).

Thank you :).

Last week-end mods :
- Front pads : Pagid RS29
- Rear pads : Ferodo DS2500 (no more Pagid RS29 on stock)
- Brake fluid : Motul RBF660
- Negative front camber to the max (using the stock "ajustement" tips)
- Track wheels : M3 E46 18" with Federal 595 RS-R - Front : 225/40R18 - Rear : 255/35R18

On sunday I will go to Charade, a french track : http://www.charade.fr/data/pistes.html

And then I will be on holidays at the Nurburgring from monday april 18th to tuesday 26th, I hope I will meet some of you over there ?

Hello to you and welcome. Looks like we French speakers are invading this forum  Thats 3 of us in 1 week (Bordeaux, Cannes and now Geneva).

lonely time over :tumbleweed:

:!: But rrimamberr zer is ouane roule yier on ze foroum. we speaak roasbeef only!

send us some pics of the AP's once they're on.

How are the 19" compared to stock 18". I though it made the car tramline something ridiculous... :( but thought they would be quite good on the track to reduce that understeer on corner entry at the front. As you said if you're trail braking on corner entry the back steps out and you en up powersliding all the way to the exit. fun but not fast...

I did not notice significative changes with the 19", anyway I use them only on public road, so performance is not my goal, I bought them only for better looking ;).

Here is a video on the Bresse track, taken from my stepfather M3 E36 3.2l. He was burnishing its brake pads so he could not go fast, and as my brakes were fading too much, we decided to have some fun by drifting. It was my first time on track with the Z so I was testing the limits, please be indulgent with my mistakes .
