Hello, and some questions

Hello all,

I've just picked this up from the dealer: :-)

It's a completely standard Z4M Coupé that's lived a very sheltered life so far - only 16k miles from new. It's clearly been a garage queen all its life - it's absolutely immaculate.

Anyway, it's going to have to start working for its living from now :-). Among other things, I'm planning to take it on a few track days, hence the questions. What, other than the obvious (oil, coolant, brake fluid and pads, tyre pressures) should I keep an eye on during a track day? Any known issues with these cars when tracked?

BTW - this is my other toy:

Unfortunately, it's useless for taking passengers out (hence the Z4M :-))

nice choice & welcome , ,
timely post also RE the low mileage but tracked V higher miles but not ? debate going on

for me if there was a hint of trackday action on a car i was interested in my heels would smoke i'd be away that fast

Hi! Welcome to the forum. The M looks great - certainly looks like you've got a good one.

Have to agree with everyone else. When the time comes for you to pass it along, you're going to find it much harder to shift if you're planning on tracking it... sort of begs the questions why you would want to, given that you have a much better track tool? Are you planning on taking your passengers on the track?

Provided you don't stack it or mod it into a stripped racer no one would know its been on track

I'm well aware that tracking it will limit its appeal when the time comes to pass it along. But then that applies to any car (even Caterhams, which I've had a couple of). And I'd not be planning to try to hide the fact that I've used it on track if/when the time comes.

There are a couple of reasons why I want to track it. Firstly because I want to find out how it handles on the limit, and I'd rather do that in a safe environment where I'm working up to it gradually than trying to work it out if/when I need to on the road. And secondly, yes - because I can take passengers.

Fair enough! I was just curious as to why... have fun!
