Heel Toe engine problem

Hi all,

Im looking for a wee bit of help, my 2003 2.5 has developed a problem in that when the accelerator and the brake are depressed similtaniously the revs die to idle (for example when heel toe driving). I have tried changing the MAF and have inspected the intake pipe elbow but still have the problem. Car shows no fault codes I have no idea what the problem is or how it can be fixed, help please.

Some of the modern cars no longer allow this it causes confusion as the way the ECU is programmed to monitor every thing. I'm not sure if the E85/E86's are modern enough though but it is a possability

The E85 loves to be heel and toed, at least mine does The pedals are not perfect for it though. The ECU certainly does not give a hoot, that you are pressing the brake and accelerator simultaneously. :wink: Alas I can't help with your problem though OP

I know on a lot of VAG cars with "drive by wire throttle" (same as the Zed) as soon as you touch the brake with the accelerator held, the engine will drop to idle, probably to do with emissions and/or cruise control system.

Heel & toer here and all good but agree pedals aren't best setup for it

Throttle valves need cleaning perhaps?

Thanks for the replay's, D4dawg what makes you think it may be the throttle valves? Have you cleaned them on your car before?

I'm sure someone has reported this previously but I can't remember what their issue turned out to be. You might find that thread by searching the forum if you're lucky!

UPDATE: Problem now fixed... It appears that the problem was in fact the MAF. I replaced my original MAF with an aftermarket MAF and experienced the problem above. After trying new hoses on the intake side of the engine and still not being able to remidie the problem I thought F it and just stumped up the 300 quid and bought and brand new siemens MAF from BMW. Problem now solved :driving:
