You need a random orbit polisher as that is virtually risk free. The one you linked is not moving about and "could" burn the paint if not careful.

ah, ok - so new to this stuff :oops:

and I do wash the car more than once a year, maybe even once a month... polishing is rather longer....

Mine is also US spec with transformer from Screwfix.
 
Porter Cable is only available as US spec. Ashame, as it is simply the best polisher about.

point taken about the cheap stuff - just making sure Im searching for the right stuff.

did wonder what that was - thought it was some kinda transformer or some such. I not an electrician either :rofl:
 
Can you do decent work on your car without a top price polisher?

I think I'm getting a polisher for Xmas (but don't know what one it is yet!), and hope I can still make my car shiny :lol:

Usually it means you spend say £50 on something, to only find out the limitations very quickly and still having to spend the £150 to get the one you really wanted :)

I don't think it is worth buying something that does not have the power to last, nor the power to really do its job,

Your car seemed to like the Menzerna as well so would stick with that one. The FMJ should keep that side nice for quite a while, should be able to keep it up to a year or so - which will roughly be when you next wash the car :poke:

I use my PC all the time when buffing, it's much easier than by hand, although always apply the product manually.

IF you want to remove scratches like gannet did a polisher is the best method by a mile.
