Heavy Steering

I've read lots of posts about sticky steering and not encountered it thank god. However, when I pressed the sport button today when sat in traffic the steering became heavier? When I turned off sport button it became lighter again. Is this normal on a 2003 2.5 auto? Thanks in advance for any help
 
Yes, one of the features of the Z4 is that the electric power steering can change its level of assistance - the sport button removes some assistance, thus making the steering heavier whilst activated.
 
I'd like this function on mine, but fail to notice any difference in the steering weight witht the button on or off. :(
