Heavy-Duty Velcro Strips – Not So Heavy Duty!

I recently bought some mats and wanted to secure them to the carpet, so I picked up these heavy-duty Velcro stick-on strips, thinking they’d do the job.

Unfortunately, they were really disappointing. The adhesive just wouldn’t stay stuck to the carpet and the strips came away almost straight away. I made sure everything was clean beforehand, but they still didn’t hold.

Has anyone found a product that actually works for fixing mats to carpet? I’d appreciate any recommendations.

Yeah put a dab of this under the velcro. It sticks to anything like 'shite to an army blanket'. My mats have velcro stuck with this stuff. It's brilliant.

Ignore the Halfords description about it being a sealant (and you definitely can't 'tool' it when wet). It is a PU glue which sets like rubber, so is flexible but sticks to anything. I built a car with it. Shite loads of it!! 🙃

Just don't expect to ever get the velcro off again.

No self adhesive tape will stick to carpet for long. The fibres in carpet stick to the adhesive but the fibres come away too easily. So you end up with unstuck velcro with millions of carpet fibres stuck to the backing.
