Heater whirring noise

My heater has recently started making a whirring noise when on (it doesn't happen when the heater is turned off). I suspect the motor/fan is knackered but wondered if anyone can confirm and provide a how-to? Thanks.

The fan is on the front of the main heater matrix unit, not sure if its possible to remove the fan only, have a peek above the passenger footwell with a torch, its a bit cramped.

If you need to remove the heater unit, then its dashboard out...fun.

If your local to Sussex, I have a spare unit with the rest of the spares i am selling, if you want some better photos, let me know !!

It could be some debris has gotten into the fan and is making noise. It shouldn't get past the filter, but something could sneak through when the filter is changed. The fan is behind the fuse block, so that and the glove box need to come out. I think there's a duct or something in the way too. It's certainly not a dash out thing.
