Heater Performance

Does my heater have a problem or are all Z4 heaters similar?
The only way to have a constant flow of hot air seems to be by selecting the temperature control to 28° which is then too hot & the only way to maintain comfort is to reduce the fan speed.
Adjusting the temperature to anything lower than 28°results in the heater firstly getting up to temperature then backing off & blowing out tepid air.
I am assuming there is some kind of feedback loop? Whereas the interior is measured & adjusted via a thermostat. I'd just prefer it to blast out air at the temperature selected!
Anyone else have similar issues?

You are right about Auto mode, distribution and fan. Output aIr temp is managed by the temp control. At most temp settings, the output air is blended hot and cold. How tepid depends on how far the cabin temp is from set point. The set point does not represent the output temp except when it's very close to cabin temp. It does seem you get straight hot or cold when the control is far right or left, but have seen nothing in literature to confirm this. Maybe it's just because the cabin temp is so far from the represented temp. Not sure what would happen once the cabin temp approached that set temp, would it start to temper, or just shut off? No idea, those temps are too uncomfortable!

You have the so called Automatic HVAC system, it thinks it knows how to manage temperature better than you do. Unfortunately, you do not agree, but it sounds like it is functioning normally. The problem for me is I don't like how it tries to reach the set temp, once it gets there, it usually works fine. The biggest problem is in cold, sunny weather, it doesn't anticipate the solar gain and pumps out way too much heat.

Thanks for confirming that, would be interested to know if the system can be frigged ( technical term) to work conventionally.
