Heater acting a bit odd

Quite commonly ill be driving along the the heater on (manually set) at say 24 degrees...and after about 20 mins of driving it seems to almost forget that i want to be warm and slowly the temp gets cooler and cooler until its barely luke warm air, so i whack it up to max heat and it warms up fully and then i put it back to around 22-24 and its back how it should be. its done it for the past year or so but just curious as to if anyone else has the issue??

Does your temperature gauge drop when this happens?

what on the onboard computer?? im not entirely sure to be honest...does it work on OAT difference or something?

Does then fan still work OK, only other thought is transportation mode, but AFAIK if it goes into this mode it stays in it.

It is, and IIRC woots is in the forces and haven't ssens any posts from him for some time until today.

Probably putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5.

Dont think its anything to do with flat battery, its dont it for the past year i think? Although it may be linked to the occasional dimness of the console lights for about 10 seconds for no reason followed by them remembering ive got headlights on so they come on bright again, maybe just a dodgy connection or something? its not a majoor issue just curious really

I'd be looking at the final stage resistor. When they start to fail they cause the heating to have a mind of its own.
Common problem on BMW's and had to fix mine on the X5

aka the hedgehog, known problem on the E46, not seen it on the Z4M though. It is cheap to change so would be a good starting point.
