Heated wing mirrors

Took the car out this morning after a misty night, both wing mirrors obscured with condensation and showed no sign of clearing alveit only a 10 minute drive.

Are heated rear view mirrors standard on the E89? If they are, are they on all the time the same as the E85 mirrors?

(my ambient temp sensor is broken, currently reading 50 degrees permanently - could that be a factor?)

Hi, the e89 mirrors are heated continually i think, regardless of the ambient temperature

Temp sensor bottom left side bumper. Need to move away the wheel arch trim.

Thanks flybobbie, very useful - I did change the sensor over yesterday as I'd already bought a replacement. It's possible to do with the liner in place, even with my clumpy hands ๐Ÿ˜ just by taking a few screws out.

I'm not very good at wiring diagrams - is there anything there that confirms the mirrors are heated permanently? (or fuses to check? Mirror adjustment and folding working all fine)

Newer bmw the mirror clear depending on temperature. Not sure on E89โ€™s but itโ€™s how it works on my E87 one series. The way round it is to turn on auto wipers as this also activated heating the wing mirrors

Thanks - possibly my 50 degree temperature reading was to blame then. Next time the mirrors are fogged I'll see if they now heat up.
