heated seats

I don't think so.

I have recently retro fitted m-sport seats and it did not look possible. If you look on realoem.com, I think the retro fit kit says 'not for the m-sport seats' but please check.

Well I have heated ///M sport style seats and see no reason why you would not be able to fit the pads in so long as you have the appropriate wiring loom built from the seat base through to the centre console switches.

My logic is simple in that if the seat pad heater failed then they would not thrown the seat so they can obviously be fitted.

My //M seats are heated so I know they do it. You'd have to have the wiring to hook it to.

//M seats have the seat back pads sewn into the leater, its simply the boulster heated pads that you could retrofit, and would be pretty ueless on their own. Likewise the seat bases also have headed seat pads sewn in so its not possible to retro fit without replacing the leather covers on the seats.

If you are keen to retrofit I have a full set of black leather //M sport seat covers attached to foam bases, ready to be attached onto the //M seat frame. I've never attempted a switch over, but would imagine its reasonably easy provided you have a day free to spend taking seats apart. If you are happy to swap your old seat covers and seat bases back to me after you've finished the job, I'm sure we culd work something out reasonably cheaply :D

You can clearly see the heated seat pad integrated into the //M seat below.

I bought a generic heated seat kit off ebay for $75 per seat shipped. I installed them in my 4Runner with ease. I simply cut them to fit, supplied power and mounted the switch in the dash. If the seat covers on the M seats come off easily, I don't see why a generic kit wouldn't work, unless it's too ghetto for you. The kit only has a hi and low setting. My M seats are heated, thank god....

Excellent info Elliot

That explains why you can see the heating elements on the base of the sport seats but not on the base of the m-sport seats.

Sorry to take a slight detour, BUT as this is in regards to heated seats I thought I'd build on a thread instead of starting a new one.

My question is in regards to the car's automatically turning off of the seats. I noticed that when I turn off the car, the setting for the heated seat is lost (i.e. the car forgets that I had the seat heater on just five minutes ago before I ran into the store). This is annoying during the colder months when I am doing a lot of running around and have to constantly re-turn on the seats. This is the first time I'v had a car with heated seats that turned off like this every time. :o

Is there a way this can be set so the car remembers to keep the previous heat setting? Is it a key/car program thing?

It's a minor annoyance, but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

rollingstone, you can't do it unfortunately, although I've had 4 cars with heated seats and they all reset the heat setting with the ignition

Yep. But, fortunately, they heat up pretty quickly!

Wondermike, thanks for the answer. Although it's not the one I was hoping for, I can see why it's "safer" for the seats to shut off and reset.

And Smokin' is right... they do heat up fast! In fact, sitting with them on "high" too long would all but ensure no naturally sired kids in my future.

Cheers.

At the risk of getting drummed off the forum, I have to say, heated seats, I just don't get it. No, my Z4 doesn't have them, yes, I drive it with the roof down on sunny winer days, no, I don't die of cold. I'm surprised at you :poke: Oh, my other car has them...apparently :)

Sticks, they are a bit love or hate. I love mine and am not embarrassed to say that I use them all the time and I even put my hairdryers on too, and that's without even dropping the roof, if I do that I wear a hat too

Yep that's the other thing, about time they were standard though, Audi has made them standard on the TT 3.2 and TTS now, roadster and coupe versions. It must be easier for them just to make them all the same, and I suppose the dealers will prefer not having to try and shift a car without them.

IIRC the latest M3 has satnav as standard in this country because there was such a gulf in used prices with/without, it is more straightforward just to make it standard - easier for a dealer to value a used car that way.
