So.....

In 03 pre facelift cars the wiring loom should be (hopefully) already be there.

Is the Heating loom seperate to the Electric seat loom?

Is there just one plug that goes into the back of the control unit or two?

I have some seats turning up this week so project work will be underway soon :D

Doing the seats today!!

Anyone know what you do with the seatbelts? Im talking about the plastic clip/loop that the belt passes through on the actual seat. Does the clip undo/seperate so you can take the belt out of it? Or do you have to unbolt the belt at the base of the seat and thread it through? Cant see how that would work??

Help please :D

1. pull headrests out
2. locate bolt on inner surface of plastic loop
3. undo it, the loop can then be seperated enough to slip the seatbelt out

It's obvious when you spot the bolt but the headrests hide it very well :D

The seatbolt bolts to the frame of the seat (at the bottom) so you'll need to undo it too.

They're in :D :) 8) :driving: :D :)

Cheers Ally! Your right it was obvious as soon as i took the headrest out. The M seats just clip in and out so very easy with the new ones.

It was a 5 hour endurance doing both seats but very happy they are all working and heating up nicely. I'll do a proper write up with some pictures as soon as i get chance

Sorry for digging this one up from the depths of time...

@Dreamer: When you did this retrofit, did you just get the new centre buttons (with the heated seat buttons) and plug it straight into the existing cables or did you need to fit new cabling too? I replaced my electric (non-heated) seats today with electric + heated seats and have removed the button panel in preparation for the new one to arrive. I'm hoping it is a simple case of plug-n-play. My zed is a 53 plate so under the impression these come pre-wired with the full loom.
:)

Ive just done this on a 06 model but had to buy a loom and the switch. I asked the local BMW garage for the instructions. Think the 03 may have the loom best thing to do is unscrew the switch from the ash tray and pull it out then pull out the plug and slide it open.

If you see green and yellow wire and green and lilac plus pink and red you already have hte wiring.
