Heated Seats retrofit

So.. I'm quite fancying putting heated seats in my first Zed, its an 09, 2.5Si with sports seats.
I know that a number of people have already retrofitted the heated seats using BMW looms and carbon heated pads, and then bought the switch panel from a car with the heated seats. The problem is that getting hold of the looms is difficult and the wiring looks confusing as sin :| .

I'm wondering whether its possible to fit an aftermarket heated seats kit, with three heat settings and then adapt it to a switch panel from a car with heated seats ? I'd have to find which pins are Gnd, 1 ,2 and 3 for either side using a multimeter. Then, add in the corresponding pins onto the car side of the loom and then into the new kit.

I should think finding the pins wouldn't be to tricky as I'd be able to cross off all of the pins that have a connection from my current loom, leaving only 8 (I think?) pins remaining. Its then just a simply job of pressing switches until I can map out which is which using a mulitmeter.

My only other concern apart from the whole thing, is that the buttons light up when pressed. Does anyone know whether they get power from a live originally in the loom or whether they take power from the heated seat loom. The easy way to check I suppose would be to plug a heated seat switch-set into a car without the heated seat loom and see whether the lights work?

Anyway, Can anyone think of a reason it wouldn't work or if someone has done this before??

It's been done with the X5 loom, which may or may not still be available. Find a scrappy? Seats would be desirable but doubt many people would want the loom. It is also possible to make one up, think that's been done on here.

Have a look for WDS online for the wiring diagrams.
