Heated Seats Issue

Hi guys, when I press either the passenger or driver heated seat button, the button flash’s the full three “green” bars for say 1-2 seconds and then goes off.
I doubt this could be a fuse issue as the green lights on either button would not come on at all?
I too doubt it could be an “heating element” issue as this would imply both elements are simultaneously faulty?

In ideas guys?

Usually means open circuit

So could be a break in the elements or a wire break

Sounds like broken heating element wires in the pad(s),only way to test is continuity test on the pads connecting wires or strip the seat covers and visually check the pads for scorched areas where the breaks have happened. You could replace the pads with ebay pad kits and just wire the pads in to the supply connector under the seat.

It’s both seats, guys. Is it likely to be the heated seat elements? Seems more likely to be an issue with the heated seat controller, or the wiring harness. Do the seats heat up at all?

Good point well made

From memory the supply doesn’t pass through any controllers like GM5? What about the plug at the back of the switches?

If its both seats then put a voltmeter on the element supply wires under the seat and see what you get when the switch is activated, if you get no reading then suspect the control module itself where the buttons are mounted. If you get a reading then has to be the pads at fault.
