Heated seats causing damage?

As I drove to work today with the heated seats on max it occurred to me that my bottom was quite hot, I had on a skirt from my winter wardrobe (so thick material) but still felt the intense heat. So then it occurred to me that does the repeated heat damage the leather in the long term? Any ideas folks?

The seats get insanely hot on full... i stay with 1 bar, 2 if i am feeling like a hero.

The GF has hers on max all the time, even on mildish days!

Cant seeing it causing any damage... unless you wear plastic trousers... which Lucy once did and it left black stains on her seat!

You deserve to have stains if you wear plastic trousers!

Top tip.....put seats on low for ten minutes before you clean them, the dirt comes off much easier.
The key is using a conditioning cream/treatment as that'll stop the leather from cracking. It has to be kept supple.

My Z3 seats were in brilliant condition with that sort of treatment.

Never thought of that Carol! I just Gliptone'd mine, now i feel like heating them up and cleaning them again :headbang: :D

Lol! It works a treat. Loosens the dirt up and it lifts off easier. You must condition it after tho

Mine has started to feel hotter for sure... my old TT had the same issue by the time I sold it (had done >110k) to the extent I could only have it on minimum.

I love heated seats in winter.

Loved that is.

Once had them on, there was a wind when I got out of the car and the next 2 days were spent immobile due to a stiff back or whatever it was.

Dont think it damages the leather though Ruby, might be your bottoms leather strecthes a bit.....

if you fart with the heated seats on its REALLY brings out the smell... its rather wonderful really as everyone in the cabin gets to experience the heat fermented fart.

'Everyone' though ? How many can you get in your Z Beedub ?

If you were to use the heated seats all the time on full could you get some sort of heat related injury to your ass ?

What products do you use to clean/condition them?

Never had leather seats before, so its something I've never looked into.

It had to be said ...
And the first part is true ..
You can't fault heated leather for it's 'rebound' qualities.
Only the resultant joy and pride of accomplishment,
Of a 'job' imagined well done,
is a bit troubling ..

Bumpy ...
Thankfully an ocean away

PS ..Another big plus for the Roadster Crew
