Heated seat not working

I have the same issue on my 2006 Z4 3.0si - left hand drive

Right side(passenger) heating is ok.

When I press the driver(left) side button, the lights are on for 2 secs, then they go out.

I did an error scan, and came back with this:

Seat heater error.jpg

Fuses appear all good. There are no clicking noises. I checked the blue plug under the seat, re-plugged, seems good. Have not done a voltage check yet...

Any suggestions ?

Thanks.

Easy way to see if it's the seat or the switch - take both seats out (just a few bolts) and plug the drivers heated seat cable into the passenger seat. If it doesn't work is probable this switch unit (or the wiring - unlikely). Similarly, plug into the drivers seat the passenger heated seat cable - if the seat now works, you'll know it's ok.

No need to try to fit the seats in place! Just place them until the cables reach.

Faults are stored in the switch centre. Even if a generic code reader found the module, it wouldn't be able to make sense of it. You need BMW diagnostic software for these sorts of errors. Take a look at the following link, there's info here and there that may be useful. Keep in mind the colour code abbreviations are in German, but many translate to English OK.

I'll take a shot in the dark and say it's an issue with the thermostat in the seat. :) Just because I've had more trouble with thermostat like devices in the past than any other single "technology". No idea really though. The fact the LEDs stay on for a bit tells me it's not a "hard" break or fault, that it takes a while for it to decide something's wrong and shuts down.
Just a little late the the exact thread I needed! My seat light goes on for half a second, but then shuts off. I wasn't 'playing' with the seat, the car had been abandoned for a year or so. Any response or possible fix would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed mine by changing the button module, bought a used one off ebay. Unfortunately I had already ordered a seat pad for 150usd that was not returnable...
