So two winters ago I noticed that my drivers heated seat wasn't working fully. The back section and the two side leg bolsters were fine but the base centre wasn't getting hot at all........ and being busy never got around to sorting it, remembering last winter when it was cold again
So another summer has gone by and I've finally got around to getting it done.
So brand new OE parts aren't cheap, about £120 for the heating element and a further £110 for the foam (as you're supposed to replace both as they are glued together). Hmmm, lets try used, so I found a seat base from an E87 (same seat base part numbers) which cost me £60 including the leather (wrong colour, so that had to come off).
So seat out and dismantled to get the seat pad out to the workshop. There are 18 hogring clips to cut off to remove the leather section (x2, replacement and original) from the heatpad/foam.

and then the delicate task of feeding zip ties into position ready to hold the leather in place...

Then it's onto placing the leather in it's position and putting the zip-ties in to hold then (loose to start with) one row at a time (so you can get at them)

Pull them tight

Then move onto the next row.
Not forgetting the rear outside ones

Then it's just a case of putting it all back together.
Here is the offending break that was the issue

So that was my Saturday morning, along with cleaning the seats and re-colouring the drivers one.
