Heated seat button won't stay on

Hi Guys,

I have just bought an 04 3.0se which has a couple of niggles.
One gremlin I have is with the heated seats. When i press the driver's heated seat button, the 3 lights illuminate for a second then turn off on their own. I have removed the centre console button control but there is no obvious issue. The button movement is consistent with the other buttons i.e. it doesn't look like it has taken any significant impact. I'm therefore trying to establish whether the button is 'mechanically' faulty or if it's an electrical issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i was unable to find any relevant posts when i searched the forum.

Cheers,
Stu

If the passenger seat heating is working okay, then it's not likely to be the 25A fuse. Have you reached under the seat, inspected for signs of wear or corrosion, and pressed on every single connector? If everything looks okay then best guess is there's probably a problem with the temperature sensor in the driver's seat. Once it gets current, it does something that causes the controller to shut down the heating function. If so, there should be fault codes stored in the switching centre which you need to scan and check for, that might give you a better idea.

Thanks Swiftly, that helps. I haven't searched all the connections but will do that next and see if it throws up anything obvious.
Cheers

Just a warning, do not unplug any of the connections under the seat if the battery is connected. Disconnect battery first and wait at least 15 mins otherwise you will end up with an AirBag error light on the dash. Good luck

+1 for this, was my first thought too. Behaving exactly like something going into self protection shut down.
