Heated Race Seat Anyone?

Has anyone here ever retrofitted an aftermarket heating pad into a race seat? If so, did you actually manage to wire it to the factory 3 stage button or did you tap ground & power under the seat and use a new button? I’ve seen some write ups for the E9x m3 but nothing for the E85/6.

Bigwinn has fitted after market heat pads into an m-sport seat so hopefully he could help with how they were connected up and powered.

The plastic oem heated seat block connector which plugs into the yellow box under the seat can be purchased from BMW and is only a couple of £.

You can use the heated seat pads from a standard seat if you can source the seats cheap enough. The length of them can be cut down but not the width. With the pad removed and holding it up to a light you can see sections where the heated elements stop. This is where they can be cut. You would need to insulate the wires either side before installing.
