Heated or not heated, that is the question

Hi all, my search for a low mileage 35i continues but have had my head turned by a stunning 28i in orange with a black roof. The one thing putting me off is the lack of heated seats. This particular car has alcantara seats so am wondering how big an issue this might be from a resale perspective.

Thanks

It's not for me as I don't particularly like them, but for most they wouldn't be with out them!

Buy the car based on condition and how it drives etc and if it's perfect in every other way I wouldn't worry :)

Mine has literally everything but the heated seats, and it's not a huge problem. I do have the roof down as often as possible though so it would come in handy on the odd occasion, but I agree with hopz, I wouldnt worry too much, it's not a necessity.

i love the heated seats - especially BMW ones where setting 3 is hotter than a vindaloo the following morning!

Personally for a convertible i wouldnt be without them... and in terms of resale too... they would certainly impact selling it.

However have to ask yourself.. if the car is perfect minus this.. can you live without them... if so then dont let that stop you buying it.

I would agree with Aquazi and not buy a roadster without.

If you know you will trade the vehicle when you come to sell then also not so much of an issue.

Tough choice, I would be tempted with the alcantara seats as I feel they offer you more grip and don't really need heating as bad a Lether. That said you may be wishing you have heated seats with the roof down. I don't think it would ultimately put me off, especially when the car will look so amazing.

If your planning to drive roofless in the UK DO NOT miss out on heated seats.

The heated steering wheel is a must for my next car as we could not find one this time around.

Good guidance folks, many thanks. Kind of supports my decision, current cars and previous weekend cars have all had heated seats so think I will be passing on this one.

Agree with the steering wheel option, have it in my current ride and love it. Live in Scotland so the few nice sunny days we get can still be a bit on the chilly side.

+1 on the heated seats and wheel when I ordered my car spec'ed the wheel as a bit of a novelty now I love it  :D

Heated seats are a must. Just come back from an open top drive in the sunshine, with a very toasty bum!

In the same way the lack off is putting you off so will it for buyers when you come to sell. Stick with your instinct and get one with or be prepared to retrofit them later.

my wifes adamant she wanted heated seats , our last MX5 sport had heated seats , it was very comfy, the breadknife love's this feature , any excuse to drop the roof i will even its freezing , and heated seats make it a pleasure , so i think this feature is a must

Having owned two E85's, the previous without and current with heated seats, I wouldn't consider any roadster or convertible without them now.

Hi,

IMO heated all the way... But then when you live where I do you need all the help you can get with the cold.

All the best...

The alcantara doesn't need them as much as full leather. Its the heated steering wheel I wouldn't be without now even when I have the roof up :) want one on our 330d!

I have owned an E85 without while my current E89 has them. I would never again buy a car without heated seats, especially not a convertible. Given the cold weather in this country, you will enjoy the car so much more with heated seats, especially during the colder month when you couldn't lower the roof without the heating. With them, I put the roof down at 10 degrees and less, no problem! I find the heating generally quite weak so the heated seats are a nice addition.
