Heated Mirrors

I picked up my 2004 3.0 Z4 on Saturday (traded in a 2001 Audi TT) and I am loving the car so far!

However this morning when finishing work I noticed that the heated mirrors took forever to start de-misting! Infact the drivers side didn't really de-mist at all by the time I had got home (only about a mile up the road). The passenger side had started to clear but was still pretty misty. Should they take this long to clear? My TT's mirrors would clear within about a minute of starting the engine. Any idea's / is this normal?

I have had a quick search but couldn't find anyone having this problem.

try the back of your hand on the glass they should be warm.... after that check fuse or as above.... they are a couple of threads on how to remove them.

Cheers guys, if my mirror seems solid in the case does this mean the heated back should be fixed properly? Or can the heating element peel away whilst the mirror stays stuck to its mount? How can you remove the mirror if it's firmly stuck?

Will also check the fuses!

Got the mirror off and one of the wires was unplugged. However I can't get the mirror back on! Any tips? The plastic bit which turns to lock it back on does not want to move.

mine were a bit stiff too. a bit of a build up of grit and grime.

Clean and all good.
