My wing mirrors always seem to be really warm, as if they are permanently switched on........i thought it would be the sort of thing that would be activated when the heaters on or something, anybody else have this issue ?

They are always on, same as E46's and all other BMW's I guess

Hm, me too. I've never noticed that they are any warmer than the rest of the car, though (black car, Southeastern US, summer, you figure it out  )

So should be wiper and temperature based then :?

How odd mine are on too and I never noticed that before. Still I don't oft drive around with my hand on the mirror glass.

I wonder why BMW opted to keep them 'live' rather than rear screen linked?

I noticed this a few years ago with my 330D dealer confirmed it's as it should be, very good too, just be mindfull to see how clear they always are even in hurendous rain...

But the linked report also says that as the ambient temperature rises, the amount of heating is decreased. Might be hard to feel it on those 98 degree days. I'll check mine today(if the rain lets up that is) :|

Like this thread :D

Guess what, checked mine at the traffic lights on the way into work today and they were hot, not warm :fuelfire:
