Heated Glass Wing Mirror Knocked Off

I recently had my glass wing mirror knocked off my car to my annoyance. I also realised that I have heated wing mirrors on my 2008 Z4.

I already hastily ordered normal glass for it, but I'm guessing as its a heated wing mirror I need special glass for it rather than normal one? Also would it be ok just to put it straight over the pad that's already there?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I had both wing mirror glass fall out a couple of years ago. As long as your back plate is still in good condition you should be able to stick them straight on to it. My new mirrors came with sticky pad on the back to attach them. Even though there is a thin sticky pad my heated mirrors still work ok.

They are heated continuously, whilst ever the car is running, like I or not. That's why the glue hardens and the glass falls out! Hard to fathom why you would want permanently heated wing mirrors in JULY!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha reading about it i get that impression! So it should be ok to just put normal glass over it? Or is there a special one to order?
