Health Check advise

So my z is in for an inspection 1 and brake service based on time not mileage and had the usual 'report' video through.
Good news disa and handbrake mechanism being replaced under warranty.
My question is which of these other jobs seem realistic bearing in mind the car had no MOT advisories only 1500 miles ago! (Am aware of the wheel and will be welded when all refurbished)

OK so I would do all the jobs except the top mount that you can do at leisure or if it fails an MOT
There was nothing there that a well serviced car should not have changed out.
Some will argue about cleaning brake pipes and none of the stuff failed the MOT but to me it all needs fixing.

Order of priority for me
Wheel and tyre
Prop donut (cost/damage if it fails)
drivebelts (cheap and quick)
front disks and pads (safety)
Front suspension refresh (ride quality)
rear brake pipes and flexibles (safety) (do the lot from mid car back and use single long braided hoses)

BTW you must buy a new rear tyre too as with running it flat its damaged internally and not safe.
 
Agree really Phil, just surprised that MOT didn't pick anything up with so few miles I between. Have asked them to go back to BMW as I feel the prop donut should be covered under warranty. Will get all jobs done over time in winter probably as the services alone are coming in near £400 and also want to get the wheel refurb done this month at circa £400.

I hope I am mistaken but you mention welding, to you mean the wheel. If you are I wouldn't recommend it, buy a new one or a second hand rim that is in good condition.

F1 alloys in Chester are long established and guarantee repairs. Know welded alloys are controversial but I'm confident that If a repair isn't possible/safe they won't do it.

You're right, there's no way John at f1 will repair it if it's not safe to do so...knows his stuff :thumbsup:
 
Cost of the 2 services, brake lines, prop donut and front discs and pads came to £1400. BMW have contributed to bring it down to £950. That only leaves the wheel to sort at some point, may have to wait till next payday though :rofl:

Just glad the warranty covered the DISA and the new handbrake.
 
That reminds me why I do all my own repairs

Services at the local Indy to keep the stamps looking good and do all the straightforward repairs and service items myself at leisure.

Although I've done the brake hoses myself the rear left to right pipe is a real pita
 
I do as much as I can myself but still use main dealer for service to uphold the warranty (wasted money in some eyes I know). But I'm happy enough that at 65k I still got the warranty to replace DiSA and the handbrake (full mechanism and cables). To be fair my z does very little mileage and costs nothing really to run so a few bills now and then for servicing and wear and tear I can't really complain.
