Evening all,
I finally decided to get around to changing over my head unit a few weeks back. Straight forward job, ive done this a few times on many cars.... or so I thought. I have a Sony MEX-BT4000u https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MEX-BT4000U-Audio-3-5mm-Adaptor/dp/B007RAVPZU which has been excellent.
First thing I noticed was that my fascia adapter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401004081498 had some fitment issues.
Initally, I noticed that fitment was poor, the fascia felt like it was warping in on the mount. I noticed this was down to the fascia plate not correctly seating on the two locating pins eitherside of the hold headunit, circled yellow. :roll:
Out came Mr Dremel who quickly solved the issue.
Then when I got the Connects2 and the power / ISO etc. all lined up I turned the unit and all worked fine. I disconnected everything and pulled the fascia back off, screwed the unit to the "cage" replacements pictured below and tried to get the unit to sit flush with the Fascia. NOT A CHANCE
It appears my unit is too deep, the ISO conector on the back of the head unit wants to sit right up against the brace / bracket right at the back of the CD player area. Even being super careful with wires and making as much space for myself as I could would not allow it to fit.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Alternatively, if its a case of this bracket cannot be removed without further dremel or cutting of the area, can anyone recommend a cheap but decent Bluetooth head unit, ideally that uses the 3.5mm jack for the steering controls?
