Heads-up: M Leather Steering wheel

You can't - not that they could find on the system when I spoke to them. I just put the standard silver MF ones for mine, fit easy enough (applying a little force or trimming) and look good. Some pics of this on Sideshowbob's M steering wheel fit How To.

That's very tempting at that price. Just bought a new laptop last night and had my bike wheel fall apart this morning though, so saving my £££ for other things...

PawnSacrifice, I guess the standard, non-MF silver spokes are identical to the MF ones? I prefer the look of the ones without the buttons and would go that route if I buy an M wheel, if it's possible.

It's actually a little more than I paid for mine - but I think I just got lucky, seems to be about the right price at the moment. Very worth while upgrade, the Steering feel is so much better, almost unbelievably so. Others have reported the same.

Yep, you'll be fine with the spokes, the side ones are a doddle, fit is perfect, I didn't even need to trim any of the rubber on the wheel for the MF, which some people have had to. The bottom spoke is the fiddly one, but even then it's not too difficult. Just be very gentle removing your old spokes, the lugs for the screws are a little fragile - but I've managed to repair a set, so all is not lost.

Biggest problem, as is often the case, Nosa... high chance of theft :P

Does anyone know how much it is just buy the M spokes with MF from BMW?

I purchased mine direct from a supplier in Gernmany that sourced me the wheel. Cost me E100 ish inc. P&P for ///M spokes and the MFSW buttons (all brand new and boxed . All in flat silver to match my interior.

Well, just goes to show what some BMW parts departments don't know :(

Appologies skillick for the mis-information.

Went away and checked RealOEM, the link below is for the steering wheel, this will have the dark spokes - and probably the M logo.
RealOEM E85 Z4 M3.2 M sports strng whl,airbag,multifunction
Items 2 - Set of spoke covers SOFTLACK SCHW. - 32348035326 - £127.01 (online Cooper BMW Parts price).
Can't tell if that includes the buttons? Think you would need the cable as well.

I was a little miffed at first when I realised I'd been sold the wrong spokes, but was too far into fitting to send back, but actually, I prefer the matching silver. I would second buying from Germany on eBay, did it once and very smooth transaction.

No worries Pawnsacrifice - dealers often tell you the wrong thing as they just don't get this sort of detailed enquiry and go by chassis numbers.

From REalOEM as you found you can get pretty much any combo of wheel, trim, paddles, colours, etc. then just dropping that part number into search engines or ebay finds suppliers

Thanks guys :)

No worries P/S... appreciate your input!!

I've just searched that part number and it brought up a set of the spokes on US Ebay.... without the buttons, so I assume there must be a separate part number for those spokes.

Edit: Just searching Germany ebay and came across this.... http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-Z4-M-Lenkrad...5981?pt=Autoteile_Zubehör&hash=item35af880e0d I can't tell if it's a tri-colour wheel or just the regular sport wheel though!?

They're back.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Z4-E85-E86-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL-/260743933921?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb58cafe1 somebody please buy before i do

Given the number appearing I summise that someone is now taking standard wheel rims and refurbishing them to ///M spec. with tricolor leather, etc.

This is why they are advertised as used but as new, etc.

On my iPhone so tricky to see but think it is the same dealer.
Very high quality and very happy, but I planned to chop it up and fit paddles and buttons, so was ideal.
Leather used on mine is really nice feel too.
