Headphones!

And at that price I'm not too fussed if i lose them (East Coast Trains could set up an Apple Accessories shop with the stuff I've 'given' them!)

I have yet to find iPhone friendly headphones that can re-produce the same sound quality as my Sony MDR V700s. I had a set which were a less well known in-ear brand. Great quality sound but no mic or volume control. My latest set are iLuv which have a mic but no volume control.
I would always opt for noise insulating headphones which prevent outside noise disturbing the music.
Apple do a pair that have all the functions you need. Not cheap though

If you are happy to go for the bulkier over ear style then can thoroughly recommend Bose QuietComfort noise cancelling headphones. Bought a refurb pair (older QC2) almost 3 years ago in the states and they haven't missed a beat. Sure you can buy inline controls for them as well. Pricey but well worth every penny IMO.
i wouldnt consider myself a audiophile but i do like my midrange priced headphones..
I used to swear by Sennheiser.. and for my iphone 4 i used to use the MM70 ... but the remote died 2 weeks ago... luckily it comes with a 2 year warranty so for a £2 postage cost i actually got a refund as its been discontinued. I was going to get the IE8 as they have had fantastic reviews... but were a little pricey for my budget at £200+

All i can say is wow... the sound with the foam tips is amazing! The remote and mic work well with the iphone (although a little too big) oh and it had a L plug and not straight which i dont like... but again the sound for their price is much better then anything i have owned before.
