Headlining sunglasses case

I wanted to put away my sunnies for the winter and pressed the door in the headlining to open the glasses door, to watch a small piece of something fly out of the mechanism. The door won't stay shut now and I've had the car apart looking for the tiny projectile?
BMW can only supply the whole door, latch and case assembly for £185 - ouch.
Anyone had this happen, got any solutions or got a second hand one I can buy?

Is this the first time you have looked in this compartment?
Maybe it was already broken and the bit that flew out was jammed in there to keep it closed.
 
This happened to me too recently so must be common

There is a small hooked piece that becomes loose / breaks off and like you I couldn't find this no matter how long i searched for it

Temp solution - jammed it shut with a little piece of card - it's bloody useless anyway if your sunglasses are anything but trad standard shape

I'll get around to fixing it at some point - maybe !!
