Headlight washer (xenon) problem - stuck out

Hello! I thought I might not be alone in this predicament, if I'm honest.

Mine looks like this (apologies for large size, no re-sizing on my laptop like I have on my desktop):

So, I'm hoping that the top bit will just slot in. And then obviously replace the cover on top of it.

Are we in definite agreement about the part numbers? Worth calling BMW and checking?

I think those are the two I'm going to need? Will take a pic in the light tomorrow to show what I mean.

Hi all,

Ive just noticed that my Z4 coupe (2006) is missing the headlight washers. Not sure if they've been nicked or as mentioned blew off from not closing properly. Looking at the picture spud has posted it looks exactly the same! The thing is Im not sure what im missing? Is it the two parts numbers listed above left & right high pressure nozzles & the cover spray nozzle cap?

hope you can help

M

If u don't want them to come up u can disconnect the motor to their pump

Think I'll be doing this, unless you need to use the car all year round the washers are pretty pointless IMO anyway all they do is mess up the body work when the cars clean,

anyone? :tumbleweed:

I disconnectd mine due to them making a mess after I washed my car (hence me thinking they were nicked!!)

looks like you are missing the spray head and the cover. The spray head has a clip for the cover to er clip in to on it. Never seen one without the head though :o

I have a spare spray head but without the required clip for the cover so not much use.

Unfortunately you will need to buy a new pump which incorporates the spray head and of course separately the covers.

Thanks for the replys folks! Didnt think they would have cost so much.

Not having much luck at the min, it was only a couple of months ago some one put a nice dent on the passenger side wing, right on the crease!
Must have been from a 4x4 as seems to far down the bonnet to be a car?

Hi mike... I live in Stockport bud.

thanks again all, looks like I'll be browsing the bodywork threads next :x

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Just got back to the car and found one of the covers missing. The jets work fine, and pop-up as they should, just looks like the cover has popped off somewhere.

Is Joe @ Sopers still the best bet for pre-painted ones? (looks like it's about £12 primed, or £40 painted - is that about right?).

there was a substantial wait (8+ weeks) for a prepainted one when I got mine...
Ah well, I suppose I can only ask.

If it's going to take that long though, I think I might just get the cover and get a local bodyshop to spray it for me.

exactly what I did, except I think the bodyshop actually got the cover for me as well.

Just been to the dealer closest to where I'm working down south, and they've ordered one, due in Friday, due complete with paint sometime the following week.

£50+vat all in.

Just a quick update to say that even though I only ordered the part last Wednesday, it is ready (painted too) to be fitted.

Excellent service so far from Wood in Hampshire (service dept is in Basingstoke though).

Is that all? Is that nozzle and cover?

I was expecting £150 so been putting it off.

Mine only needed the cover as the whole nozzle mechanism, including tabs for attaching the cover, was still in place.

I was just praying that the dealer didn't claim I'd need the whole set up, although I'd still have had to have bought it.

lol Darn you.

You brighten up my day like that, and then smack me back down to reality.
This'll brighten your day right back up then.

Got the item fitted today as planned, and just as I finished paying the service advisor said it would be brought around as soon as they'd washed it.

I nearly had a heart attack and only through very good self-discipline did I manage to politely ask her to run around the back to stop them touching it at all, explaining that it'd just had a weekend of expensive correction & detailing carried out.

Luckily they'd only just started spraying water on it to rinse it, and only half the car was wet when it was brought around - close one :headbang:

Can't really blame the garage, as it's not one of my usuals haunts and so there is no big "You touch, you die" flag on their computer

Hey,

I have the same problem as Spud - low temp and washer covers popped. Stupidly (?) i pulled the hydraulics up and slotted the cover back on.

Now I seem to have developed a leak however - it's not from the washer bottle where the connections are tight - but seemingly the driver side washer. The light washers don't pop up on cue and within 10 min of a washer spray the bottle is empty.

I'm struggling to get in to see what's going on around the hydraulics.

Anyone got any advice?

Worst comes to worse i think i'll remove the fuse (not xenons) to see if i can prevent the bottle drain and at least have use of the main widsreen washers...

Thanks,

Liam

Can't help you with the fuse as I haven't removed the bumper yet, so don't know what the pipe work is like. Will take some pictures when I do.

In the meantime I would suggest you unlug the headlight washer connector like I was told to do. Not missed them if I'm honest.

Open bonnet, drivers side headlight. If my memory serves me correct there are two electrical connectors near the washer fill up bottle. Pull the one nearest the lights. This will allow windscreen washers to work but not headlight ones.
